Technical Manager

Our Client is a producer of sweets and licorice brands. In the east of the province of Antwerp, about 120 enthusiastic employees work in various departments and some 14 million kilos of candy are produced and packaged annually. Work is carried out in accordance with four core values: Focus, Passion, Teamplay and Pride.

For the technical department they are currently looking for a Technical Manager.

Function description

Maintenance:

  • Ensure that the planning and execution of the maintenance of the machinery is made in the most efficient way and have the plans agreed to by production and planning
  • Secure analysis of breakdowns and short stops to find root cause and correct issues
  • Secure detailed planning, daily steering and follow up of maintenance actions
  • Ensure the right balance of critical spare parts according to cost of stock and loss time due to out of stock.

Investment:

  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of capex

Safety:

  • Ensure Safety culture in the technical department. Secure compliance with the safety regulations

Quality and environment:

  • Ensure quality and environmental impact in projects on short and long term and continuously improving the environmental impact in the maintenance activities
  • Together with the HACCP-team make sure that we identify and control the food safety risks related to maintenance or investments activities.
  • Secure good 5S order in the workshop and all areas related to maintenance

People Management

Job requirements
  • Bachelor/Master's degree
  • Profound knowledge of maintenance and engineering in a manufacturing environment with experience in CI/GMP/BRC/HACCP
  • Strong personality, able to manage a team with negative team culture, knowing that the decision to close the factory in 2 years' time has been taken and communicated
  • Mitigate crisis situation in the department 
  • Proven record of implementing change and delivering breakthrough results
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
  • Several years of relevant supervisory experience in a maintenance and manufacturing environment
  • Strong diplomat and good communicator
  • Hands-on manager, manage by example, closely involved in the daily (maintenance) operations and solutions for issues which arise
  • Good KPI reporting skills (amongst other on capex spend/maintenance/OEE)
  • Background in food is considered a plus
Offer

A full-time Interim Management assignment for a foreseen period of 2 years, until the closure of this site, as production will be shifted to another plant within the group. 

Organizational and departmental definition

You will lead a team of 5-6 technical experts and you will report to Group Technical Director, as well as the Plant Manager.
