Operations Director

DUBOIS & Fils (www.jdubois.be) is the partner of well-known brands such as Aigle, Cat, Sebago, Gant, Marco Polo. As wholesaler the company has built up long-term relationships with retailers in the Benelux and Germany, as well as with its international suppliers. Apart from the main wholesale activity, Dubois also has 6 own pilot stores and 4 e-commerce platforms, and has developed its own outdoor brand Berghen. Forecasted sales are around 8M€, and in total the company's headcount is around 20.

Dubois has already been going through some important transformations over the last years, but still has important challenges for which it is counting also on its new Operations Director. It has already reorganized the sales force, acquired new brands and developed new markets. But on operational processes and cost control a lot of progress can still be made. You can really make a difference. The company has made losses over the last years but has a lot a liquidity and has no external debt. Sales growth is really promising in view of the new brands that have been acquired and with the right Operations Director Dubois will return to a good profitability


Function description

This is really an ‘all-round’ role and key to the success of the company, together with Sales. You will be in charge of all supply chain processes and support services. tasks of the company, together with the sales and marketing manager. This means you are a ‘hands-on’ manager, coordinating accounting, procurment, IT, logistics, after-sales service, retail and e-commerce support.

• You learn to master the company's ERP, and you collaborate with the IT manager for continuous improvement

• You participate in the collection meetings each season and get to know the key products of each brand and develop with the sales manager a purchasing plan per brand, taking into account the requirements of supplier contracts that have been signed.

• As people manager, you coach your teams through change and new ways of working. You think in the overall company interest and favour open communication and constructive feedback.

• You accompany the finance and accounting team in the elaboration of budgets and their control, supervise the analytical accounting and reporting, invoicing control, legal and financial (reporting and declaration) requirements

• You supervise and organize logistics/warehousing team (5 co-workers) that is based in Nivelles. You optimize processes and define and follow up the KPI’s



    Job requirements

    • You have at least 10-15 years of experience in operational management, combining skills in finance, logistics, HR, purchasing, IT & digital, and preferably have a master degree, or equivalent by experience.

    • You are an inspiring leader, who actively coaches his team, is hands-on and leads by example

    • You comminicate well and in a very open manner and stimulate open communication between all employees of the company

    • You consider yourself an entrepreneur with a small business mindset: you are a practical problem-solver, and help out yourself when necessary

    • You are analytical and organized, and you can set priorities well

    • Preferably you are a French native speaker, but at least bilingual in French and Dutch. You have a good knowledge of English, German is a plus

    Offer

    This Interim Management assignment is foreseen for a period of 6 months, and offers variety and company wide responsibility. You will be working in close collaboration with the Sales Manager and effectively constitute the core management team. The Interim Manager can also become involved in the company for the long term, if there is the right fit. As Operations Director it is possible in this case to continue to invoice as an self-employed manager. Over time the possibility of becoming a shareholder of the company is also open.

    Organizational and departmental definition

    You are part of the core management team and report directly to the CEO of the company. You will be regularly invited to meetings of the Board of Directors, that plays an active role in the (strategic) development of the business.
