General Manager (Buy-in)

Our client is a Private Equity company which is in the final phase of acquiring (the “Transaction”) a very profitable SME (+800k EBITDA), active in the Limburg province for over 20 years (the “Target”).  The Target has its own formulas for white-label chemical liquid products and provides mixing and (re)packing services of (non-food) liquids for a wide variety of B2B clients, ranging from retailers to multinationals, mainly based in the EU and UK. 

Our client is now looking for a new General Manager for the Target who is expected  to acquire a stake in the Target as part of the Transaction alongside the Private Equity company.

  • You are the 'face' of the company both to its own employees and to the outside world: customers, suppliers and shareholders

  • You are responsible for the development and implementation of both the long- and short-term strategy that should mainly focus on growth and new opportunities.  Of course, you also manage the company operationally on a daily basis

  • You are both commercially and technically active and steer the development of the company in both areas.  You bear the final responsibility in the customer process, ranging from quotation to handling any complaints

  • You manage the activity of the company as a whole and make the important decisions that affect the organization

  • You manage the company's resources and direct where they are deployed

  • You negotiate or approve the contracts for the company

  • You have at least a Bachelor's degree.  Ideally, with a chemistry background and/or strong affinity with chemical products, complemented with a strong commercial experience or training.  Knowledge of the REACH legislation is a strong plus

  • You have a proven commercial drive, and experience with B2B customers

  • You have already had P&L responsibility throughout your career

  • You are a strong people manager who succeeds in coaching teams to a higher level and giving them sufficient independence so that they can work autonomously to a large extent

  • You are able to diplomatically initiate and implement change processes, and create buy-in from employees

  • You are dynamic and enterprising and have great empathy

  • You communicate smoothly, ranging from the floor to shareholders, both internally and with customers and suppliers

  • You learn quickly and are open to new ideas and alternative solutions

  • You are a hands-on manager (lead by example) but also have strategic insight and are able to define a clear long-term strategy in terms of growth and profitability for the company

  • You are open to working together with the current owner for a period of a number of years to ensure a successful transfer of his extensive know-how

  • You are fluent in Dutch and you are able to have professional conversations in both English and French. 

  • Experience with concepts such as Lean and Continuous Improvement is a plus, as well as experience with the further digitization of processes, including through a more thorough use of an ERP package

The new General Manager will lead a team of approx. 20 employees, of which 7 are active in supporting services and around 13 in production.

The new General Manager will be supported by the Private Equity company on a project basis and will report to the Board. 

Financial support and CFO services will be provided by the Private Equity company.
