Group Engineering & Project Manager

Our client is an international player in the production of high quality PET packaging via injection molding for various applications ranging from beverages to food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Headquartered in Belgium, the company has been growing strongly over the years, becoming one of the leaders in its segment.  They are dedicated to providing innovative solutions to customers worldwide with a strong focus on sustainability.  PET is 100% recyclable and  recycling leads to significant reduction in carbon emission and waste.  It is the company’s aim to have all of their preforms using at least 25% recycled PET by 2025, and this percentage will only continue to grow.  This way  the company is ‘closing the loop’.  They have built several units across Europe, recycling more than 1 billion bottles annually. 

In view of their continued expansion, they are now looking for an experienced and dynamic Group Engineering and Project Manager to lead the transversal Group Engineering team. The company has a multitude of small to medium sized projects, aimed at standardizing and upgrading the production equipment.  Their injection moulding lines are a proprietary design and technology which they are constantly updating and improving.  The annual CAPEX budget may vary from year to year, but is in the order of magnitude of 20M€

  • As a strong people manager, you will directly lead a team of 5 specialized engineers, coaching them towards further engineering and operational excellence.   You foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes innovation, creativity, and self-reliance.

  • You mentor and develop engineering talent, ensuring the growth and success of team members.

  • You oversee the prioritization, planning, execution, and roll-out of engineering projects across the different business units. 

  • You ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards, such as proper documentation and reporting. 

  • You implement project management best practices and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

  • You have a broad technical expertise and maintain a deep understanding of engineering principles and technologies. It allows you to provide technical guidance and support to your group engineering team, resolving complex technical challenges. At the same time, you have a very pragmatic and hands-on approach, you help out your team whenever necessary and take your share of the project work.

  • You identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.

  • You select, coordinate and guide external engineering partners, such as engineering consultancies and equipment manufacturers.

exigences de l'emploi
  • Engineer in a technical specialty, preferably electro-mechanical, with min. 10 years of experience in a managerial position 

  • Proven experience in Engineering in a production environment

  • Interest in and experience with digitalization projects (industrial IoT) is a plus

  • You are good at organizing, planning and managing projects

  • You have experience working in a matrix environment, as Group Engineering is a transversal support service

  • You have a strong technical background and highly interested in innovative solutions

  • You have a strong analytical and critical mind which allows you to easily distinguish the essential from the secondary and able to convince your colleagues with a positive attitude

  • You are a team player, sharing your knowledge with your colleagues

  • You are an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures.

  • You are open to change and innovation and have out of the box thinking capabilities

  • You make timely decisions and take initiative

  • You are flexible in terms of working hours, and stress resistant. You are willing to travel internationally up to 1/3 of your time

  • Fluent in Dutch and English (oral and written)


This is a challenging long term full-time assignment with the possibility to invoice via your management company for a period of 12-24 months, but the company would like you to switch to a permanent employee contract afterwards. 

The working atmosphere is informal and open, but professionally demanding.

You have flexibility in planning your own work schedule and remote work is allowed up to 1 day/week while this is not a given right and has to be in line with the requirements of the role.
