Our client is a fast growing international company producing high quality glass, mainly for the luxury segment in the car industry. On their site in the Province of East Flanders, their high tech production lines run 24/7.

Due to the fast growth, the sophisticated equipment used in this plant (many of the operations are performed by robots) and a very multinational/multicultural environment, our client is looking for an experienced Strategic Maintenance Manager, both from an operational, strategic and people management perspective.

You are in charge of the maintenance team with a headcount of around 40, consisting of a combination of employees and contractors. The fact that this is a very internationally oriented company is also reflected in the composition of the maintenance team members. English is the basis for all communication.
You maintain and optimize the maintenance management system, allowing the best maintenance practices to be applied, as well as as the efficient implementation of the company's innovations.
You are constantly seeking possibilities to optimize the availability of equipment.
You define maintenance strategies and adapt/streamline processes accordingly, e.g. for preventive and/or predictive maintenance
You control & execute the maintenance budget and ensure the availability of the necessary resources (people, material, budget) for the optimal execution of the maintenance activities.
You inform general management of the results of the maintenance strategies implemented.
You ensure that the works in the plant are executed in accordance with the company's policies, guidelines, legal orders, regulations and procedures for both personnel and subcontractors.
You guide the maintenance team and oversee the Development & Training Plan for the maintenance management personnel.
You work in accordance with the HSE, quality and environmental procedures and policies & instructions, whether documented or not, and their specific responsibilities. You report problems or suggest improvements or deviations related to the environmental management system to the supervisors.

You have a bachelor's of master's degree in a technical field or have significant experience within the maintenance area in an industrial industry.
You have at least 10 years of experience in maintenance, with 5 years of team and budget management under your responsibility.
You preferably have relevant experience in a fast growing, high technology industrial environment with a high CAPEX spend and managing larger teams consisting of many different nationalities and cultures
You are an excellent people manager and communicator, and stress resistant, as work pressure can be high in this continuous and JIT production environment. You are able to coach your team to a higher, and more process driven performance
You are flexible in terms of working hours. It is a daytime job, but it is certainly is not going to be a 9 to 5 one .You must be willing to be reachable at all times via phone, in case of urgencies.
You have experience with developing strategic maintenance plans and executing them. You are familiar with setting (also operational) priorities accordingly.
You have a strong technical background in mechanics, electricity and/or automation. Knowledge of PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradlley, Omron, Fanuc) and/or robotics (KUKA, ABB) is a strong plus.
You are fluent in English, as this is the company's language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch, French or any other language is a bonus.

A long term full-time assignment for an independent manager invoicing through his or her management company.

You will report to the Plant Manager.
