Plant Manager Spreads

Our client is looking for an experienced and results-driven Plant Manager to run the overall operation of their spreads (vegetable, meat and fish based) site.  As Plant Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the overall efficiency improvement of the site, managing a team of approx. 30 co-workers. Your expertise in production processes, OEE, continuous improvement and people management will be essential in achieving the production goals and standards for this production site.

  • Determine the production strategy and objectives for the spreads site together with Division Manager

  • Oversee production planning and management activities

  • Develop the production plan, budget, and timelines

  • Determine production requirements based on plant capacity and product specifications

  • Ensure the implementation of well-documented process flows for all products and particularly for new product development, to guarantee their quality, stability and food safety

  • Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery

  • Identify delays and accordingly adjust schedules to meet deadlines

  • Assist in product risk assessment and mitigation activities.

  • Evaluate current production processes and recommend improvements

  • Conduct daily meetings to keep track of production schedules

  • Determine equipment, materials and manpower required to complete production

  • Resolve production issues with the production manager and escalate unresolved issues to management

  • Assist in employee hiring, training, performance evaluation, retention, and termination activities.

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree preferably in (electro-mechanical) engineering, complemented by at least 5 years of experience in a managerial position

  • Proven experience in a production/packaging environment

  • Well-versed in continuous improvement principles and methods

  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Strong analytical and number skills, with the ability to define and analyze relevant KPI and establish dashboards

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with a coaching leader style, installing a sense of harmonious collaboration within the site and the rest of the organization

  • Teamplayer who can liaise well with colleagues from other services, such as procurement, engineering, maintenance, planning and finance as this is a matrix organization with functions organized across different sites and departments

  • Hands-on manager who is close to the shop floor and the operations

  • Strong knowledge of both French & Dutch (oral and written)


This is a challenging long-term assignment for a plant manager who will invoice through his or her management company.
